The Inkwell is discovering the next generation of playwrights who are creating the most original, inventive, and thrilling plays.  We're also building a community of playwrights, playmakers, and playgoers here in DC who are deeply invested in making new plays.

In the four short years that we've been around, here's what we've accomplished:

• We've made connections with more than 1,000 playwrights across the country through three open call for submissions.
• We’ve presented you — through Showcase Readings, Inkreadings, and Inkubator Productions — 47 entirely new plays that thrill, delight, amaze, and push the boundaries of theater.
• Five plays that we have discovered and developed have or will go to production across the country.
• We’ve brought together more than 300 of DC’s playmakers to work with us on new plays, providing these directors, dramaturgs, designers, and actors a unique opportunity in new play development.

All of us at The Inkwell want to thank everyone who participated in GIVE TO THE MAX on November 9th, 2011.  We raised $4,670 from 51 donors!  Because of you, we blew past our first goal of raising $3,000 by noon, and then went well beyond our larger goal of raising $4,000 by midnight.

We are so inspired by your outpouring of support.  Your gifts will help us reach more playwrights, provide more master classes for DC's talented playmakers, and help us introduce DC more of the most original, thrilling plays that push the boundaries of theatre.

We couldn't be more grateful that you care as much as we do about the future of American theatre.
