You must include an answer for each question below for your submission to be considered.
Where is this play in the development process? (How many drafts have you completed? Has it had a reading? Workshop? Never been heard aloud?)
Briefly describe your most successful creative collaboration (and tell us why it was successful). Use your own definition of "successful" when answering this question.
Tell us about yourself in 50 words or fewer.
Tell us about your writing process. (Do you write quickly but rewrite slowly? Need perfect silence? Need your Alf bobble-head sitting next to you on your desk?)
The first step of Inkwell's process involves a developmental collaboration and performance of a 20-page selection of your script. We call it a showcase reading. To learn more about them, and what playwrights get out of this initial collaboration with The Inkwell, read this Inkblog entry from playwright Steve Moulds.

Please indicate 20 pages (they do not need to be consecutive) that you would be interested in exploring in a setting like this. What would you hope to explore in the pages you've selected? How do you think this would address larger questions you have about the play as a whole?

Choose the excerpt for you, not for The Inkwell or our audiences. Show us how you approach questions/rough patches in your work. And we strongly suggest that you do not choose the first 20 pages of your script. If you feel strongly that the beginning of the play is what you want to explore, please make a compelling case for why.

The Inkwell looks for plays to explore and develop that push the boundaries of theater are we know it. Please tell us how you feel your play pushes those boundaries. (To learn more about the kinds of plays that The Inkwell is most interested in, please read more about them in our Inkblog!)
Have you submitted this play to The Inkwell before? If so, how has the script changed since you last submitted it to us?

Please note that we know playwrights often submit their plays to hundreds of theaters and that it might be hard to keep track of where you have previously submitted your play. If you honestly don’t remember if you have submitted to us, please be honest and let us know.

Please upload your play as either a PDF or a Word document. If you would like to provide a recording and/or book to go with a musical submission please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Please respond to the questions below about your script to help us match your script with a potential partner.
