You must include an answer for each question below for your submission to be considered.
Where is this play in the development process? (How many drafts have you completed? Has it had a reading? Workshop? Never been heard aloud?)
Briefly describe your most successful creative collaboration (and tell us why it was successful). Use your own definition of "successful" when answering this question.
Tell us about your writing process. (Do you write quickly but rewrite slowly? Need perfect silence? Have to have your yellow teddy bear nearby?)
One step of Inkwell¹s process involves a developmental collaboration and performance of a 20-page selection of your script. Please indicate 20 pages (they do not need to be consecutive) that you would be interested in exploring in a setting like this. What would you hope to explore in the pages you¹ve selected? How do you think this would address larger questions you have about the play as a whole?

Choose the excerpt for you, not for The Inkwell or our audiences. Show us how you approach questions/rough patches in your work.

In addition to our mission of serving as a resource for new works in the Nation's capital, The Inkwell has a commitment to producing work that meets our artistic aesthetic. We love new works for the theatre that:
  • pulse with a unique internal and vital rhythm - a heartbeat driven by twists and trysts between words, sentences, conversations;
  • demand imaginative complicity and erupt into spectacle;
  • explode viscerally and psychologically off the page; and,
  • create impossible worlds that push past the boundaries of Theatre As We Know It.
Describe/explain the ways in which you believe your play reflects or challenges our artistic aesthetic.
Have you submitted this play to The Inkwell before? If so, how has the script changed since you last submitted it to us?
Please upload your play as either a pdf or a word document. If you would like to provide a recording and/or book to go with a musical submission please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
